Is this just another Product Hunt clone?

Accepted Answer

No. Product Hunt is for launching once and praying. Forg is for the 6 months before that launch where you're actually building. Think: social network + community + milestone tracking, not "upvote my thing on Tuesday pls."

Why would I share my work publicly? Won't people steal my idea?

Accepted Answer

Real talk: Ideas are worth $0. Execution is everything. Your idea for "Uber but for dogs" isn't special. Your ability to actually build it, market it, and make people care IS special.

Also: If someone can copy your idea in a weekend, you don't have a defensible product yet anyway. Documenting your journey helps you build a network faster.

Question 3

I'm not a developer. Can I still use this?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We have no-code developers, designers, writers, and one person who's literally just documenting their journey learning to code. If you're building something (anything), you belong here.

Question 4

How is this different from Twitter threads?

Accepted Answer

Twitter thread = yelling into the void, hoping the algorithm gods favor you, dodging engagement farmers, watching your best tweet get 3 likes while "CEO mindset 🧵" gets 100K.

Forg = actual indie hackers reading your stuff, feedback that helps, a feed that rewards consistency instead of just going viral, and your content doesn't disappear into the void after 2 hours.

Can I delete my embarrassing early posts?

You can, but we don't recommend it. Your cringe early posts are proof you've grown. Embrace the cringe. We all started somewhere.

(Yes, you can actually delete them. We're not monsters.)

Question 6

Will you sell my data?

Accepted Answer

No. We make money from Pro subscriptions, not by selling your email to "growth hackers" running Twitter courses. Your data stays yours. Always.

Question 7

What if Forg shuts down?

Accepted Answer

Solid question. We're profitable (small scale, but profitable). You can export all your data anytime. And if we ever shut down, you'll get 90 days notice + your data in JSON format.
